Der „Xenophon-Index der Verbformen“ bietet eine vollständige Auflistung aller Verbformen, die in den Werken Xenophons vorkommen. Die Verben sind alphabetisch geordnet, jeder Eintrag gibt die Gesamtzahl der Vorkommen des jeweiligen Verbs an und verweist auf die Composita. Kommt ein Werk ausschließlich als Compositum vor, ist die Grundform in Klammern vermerkt, mit einem Verweis auf die belegten Composita.
Im Hauptteil des Index sind alle in den Manuskripten nachzuweisenden Lesarten in Klammern hinzugefügt. Zusätzlich bieten zwei Anhänge (1) eine vollständige Liste der Verbformen, die in den Manuskripten belegt sind, aber per conjecturam aus dem gedruckten Text entfernt wurden, und (2) eine vollständige Liste aller Lesarten, die in den Manuskripten belegt sind, jedoch nicht im Text gedruckt wurden.
Der Index ist ein unschätzbares Hilfsmittel für die Erforschung der Semantik des Verbsystems bei Xenophon im besonderen, aber auch allgemein im Altgriechischen.****************The „Index of Verb Forms in Xenophon“ provides a complete list of all verb forms occurring in the works of Xenophon. The verbs are listed in alphabetical order, each entry giving the total number of occurrences of the verb and providing crossreferences to the compounds. In the case of verbs that occur as compounds only, the simple verb is listed in parentheses with a cossreference to the attested compounds. In the body text of the index all variant readings attested in the manuscripts are added in parentheses. In addition, two appendices provide (1) a complete list of verb forms that are attested in the manuscripts but have been removed per conjecturam from the printed text and (2) a complete list of all variant readings that are attested in the manuscripts but have not been printed in the text.
The Index is an invaluable tool for research in the field of the semantics of the verb system in Xenophon in particular and in Ancient Greek in general.
