Person Joseph Petrič
Concert and recording artist, historian, teacher, composer, Joseph Petrič’s postmodern approaches to the concert accordion have drawn return engagements to Asia, Europe, Scandanavia, United Kingdom, the former Soviet bloc, North America and the Middle East. He has appeared as soloist at major venues such as Seiji Ozawa Hall, BBC Radio3, Washington’s Kennedy Center, the Berlin Philharmonic, and international festivals London Southbank, IRCAM Agora, Hohenems Schubertiade, and Berlin Philharmonic Chamber Festival with media acclaim in the London Independent, Washington Post, New York Times, and Berliner Tage. His legendary collaborations with composers have attracted the generous financial support of the Koussevitsky Foundation, Swedish Reikskonzerter, the Laidlaw Foundation, Canada Council for the Arts, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation inter alia resulting in more than 350 commissions (among them 20 concertos), a discography of 40 titles, and musicological and artistic-philosophic publications. He remains the only concert accordionist since 1980 devoted solely to commissioning and concertizing. For complete details visit www.josephpetric.com and Joseph Petrič Wikipedia.
