Mankind evidently yearns for a catastrophe, the “Big Crunch” or the end of the world. Or at least that’s how it would appear when one leafs through this little booklet. And these are only the 31 best examples – the list does not claim to be exhaustive. Why is that so? No idea. Anyhow, it will hopefully put a smile on your face when you read about all the apocalypses born out of astronomic calculations, religious fervour or entrepreneurial spirit – more or less “in good faith” – which did NOT occur. You can secretly express your relief: thank God – that was a close shave!
