Supply chain performance measurement

Proposing the Balanced SCOR model

von Swetha Balakrishnan, herausgegeben von Michael Hülsmann
In today’s globalised world, as supply chains are developing rapidly, more and more companies are growing to be dependent on each other. Every supply chain member is dependent on several others to fulfil its duties and achieve its objectives. This calls for them to work in tandem with one another. Constant measurement and improvement of the combined performance of all members are keys to fulfilling customer objectives and achieving successful supply chain performance. This paper highlights the problems with supply chain measurement and discusses two common supply chain measurement techniques – namely the Balanced Scorecard and the SCOR model. An evaluation of the models reveals that they complement the shortcomings of each other. Thus thereon, the two models are combined to create the Balanced SCOR model. The paper shows how this Balanced SCOR model tackles problems related to supply chain performance measurement, explains its advantages and limitations, and highlights the shortcomings of research.
