Along with the ongoing restructuring of tertiary level education (Bologna process) the discussion of the generic role of physics in engineering education has been revived: is physics a prerequisite for all engineering enterprise leading to core competencies, or is it a valuable and fruitful complement to classic engineering education, a “soft skill”?
