Photon Science 2012
Highlights and Annual Report
Hundred years ago, in 1912, two major discoveries have dramati-cally influenced the scientific world: the discovery of X-ray diffraction by Max von Laue and the observation of cosmic raysby Victor Hess. Both physicists were pioneers in their respective fields. While the study of cosmic radiation stimulated many devel-opments in particle and astroparticle physics, X-ray diffraction opened a new gateway into the world of molecules and atoms.
